Table orders straight from the waiter's POS terminal
A React Native app for waiters, embedded in POS terminals from different acquirers and banks: orders go from the table to the backoffice, which triggers preparation in the kitchen, and cards are paid on the terminal itself.
- Who did it
- Thiago Felipe, Front-End Developer (before dtxtech)
- Sector
- Food service · restaurants
- Deliverables
- React Native service app, native modules for payment SDKs, native ↔ React Native bridge, reusable components
The problem
In restaurants, the waiter had to enter the order at the table and tell the kitchen to start preparation. The app ran on POS terminals from different acquirers and banks, each manufacturer with its own payment SDK, and the card transaction had to happen on the terminal and be recorded in the system.
What was done
Thiago worked on the React Native service app: entering orders at the table and communicating with the backoffice to trigger the start of preparation in the kitchen. He created native modules to integrate the app with each manufacturer's payment SDK and a native ↔ React Native bridge with error handling, logs, and a reliable transaction flow. He built critical interfaces and flows in TypeScript with reusable Styled-Components components, prioritizing stability, readability, and UI consistency. On the web, he also worked on the Next.js delivery and digital menu platform, where the customer scans the table's QR Code and opens its menu.
What changed
With the app, the order leaves the table through the POS terminal and goes to the backoffice, which triggers the start of preparation in the kitchen. Card payment happens on the terminal itself, with the operation recorded in the system. On the web, the table's QR Code opens the matching menu directly.
